First there was Barcelona's black kit, then England's controversial all blue effort. Even the rugby team sent shockwaves through sport with their choice of colour for the World Cup in New Zealand, home of the All BLACKS.
And now Real Madrid have alerted the fashion police by revealing they will wear a garish red strip for the Champions League clash with Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia.
The almost pink coloured outfit bears a striking resemblance to a common theme of recent Real Madrid matches, that of the red card.
The Spanish giants will be without the guiding hand of Jose Mourinho who is still serving a ban carried over from last season's competition.
The 'Special One' was originally handed a five-match touchline ban for his behaviour during and after the semi-final first leg defeat to Barcelona. That, however, was later reduced to three games, the second of which is on Wednesday.
And in another curious development in the ever-changing face of football fashion, Adidas have commissioned all their Predator wearing stars to wear a specially designed Champions League boot.
Players include Manchester United's Nani and Arsenal captain Robin van Persie.
